Celebrating "The Triples"
There are now FIFTY NINE of us in our informal support group who brunch together monthly and counsel, coach, comfort, advocate, accompany to appointments, share fears, celebrate joys and are just generally THERE for one another on this journey NONE of us wanted to take, ever…Breast Cancer.
Some of us are brand newly diagnosed and scared, some of us are 20 years out! We are sisters, we are the same…and we love one another.
This year, like last, one of the 'originals' Bonnie (AKA "Booh") treated those of us who carry the rare diagnosis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer, to a fabulous and festive brunch at Culina in the famed Four Seasons, Beverly Hills. All of us were not able to be there - but we had a good showing - Laurie, Bonnie S, Bonnie B, Sandra, Jayne and me!
I can't begin to describe the food but here are just a few glimpses at the treats on which we feasted.
We missed Robyn, Debra, Toni and Wendy who could not join us on Sunday…and most of all, we missed our sweet Carol who is peaceful in heaven and no longer suffering with this dread disease.
Ladies who lunch - we did it in style! Cheers to another year of good health and joyous life…so glad that I can share it with you!!

You (I mean "I") light up my life…
About a week ago an under cabinet light in my pretty kitchen burned out! (For those NOT in the
'know' - diffuser equals plastic light cover). I got so frustrated!! Calls to my NY son did not remedy the situation though he tried. Only a few weeks ago when he was home, he and a friend changed out another burned out under cabinet light for me. I should have been smarter , realizing they were all installed at the same time, and had the boys replace ALL of the $9 per bulb lights!
So darling Matt to the rescue. We had a bit of a communication breakdown. I left money on the kitchen counter for him and a note asking him to pick up several bulbs for me at the local Home Depot. He was off for Cesar Chavez day while I was working. I thought he'd be at my house, waiting for me to take him to dinner, with all the work completed when I got home from work. Nope! He arrived after I got home and had time only to take off the diffuser and light bulbs.
He did spend quite a bit of time teaching me how to replace the bulbs. It's rather tricky because one has to perform this task by feel, not being able to twist one's head around and peer up at the under cabinet area while twisting in the bulb!! He repeatedly warned and reminded me to turn off the lights before starting the task which made it even harder to see what I was doing!
So today I ventured to Home Depot, burned out bulb in hand, and found a nice young man to help me find the correct replacement bulb.
Taking deep breaths I replaced two of the bulbs just as Matt had shown me with only the smallest bit of cursing involved!
Then the GD diffuser cover. I watched several youtube videos, read a few DIY websites and gave it a try. After shedding some tears of pure rage and frustration I tried again. I was SO afraid that I'd crack the plastic.
After SEVEN attempts - I finally figured it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY for me!! What a feeling of accomplishment and success and homeowner pride!
