I have a little sign hanging in my kitchen that reads:
"WHEN IN DOUBT, JUST DANCE"
I have always loved to dance. I do look a lot like Elaine from Seinfeld though when I really let go...these days I dance around the house with utter abandon because the dogs are not at all critical or judgmental...in fact, they LOVE it and dance around with me...yipping and jumping all the while.
Here are some people who evidently agree with me...when in doubt, just dance!

My Quiet Little Life
I feel that I am leading a quiet little life these days in some kind of 'in between' space. I'm adjusting well to my new work. Enjoying it. I LOVE the non-commute! I'm learning to live with fewer resources and that is a stretch but it is okay, so far.
My kids are doing well. One is totally launched and the other, while tethered to the ground a bit, is definitely in the launching process. My health is stable. But I still find I am energy deficient.
My exercise routine could use some 'beefing up', revamping or something. While I am loathe to join a gym (AGAIN, for the millionth time) I think that taking some classes might be the jump start I need.
I try to plan weekend activities with friends, but sometimes plan too many 'get togethers' and then sometimes none at all. Working toward balance. I continue to struggle to find balance and to let go of envy about other's life situations.
I long to be closer to my family, brother, cousins, old friends...all on the East Coast. That will have to wait until retirement which seems a very long way off. Can't really imagine packing up and trekking cross country with my two little dogs in tow and getting settled somewhere else! Seems like a daunting and insurmountable task.
Focusing on quiet and simple pleasures - like the glycerine soap making class I'll be taking in March at LACC and the wonderful brunch I shared with an old and dare friend this past Sunday morning.

Epiphany Eve
Yesterday afternoon Salonee and Nat made themselves available to me to help me de-tree! It's always so much fun to put up the tree and decorate the house and so sad to put everything away at the end of the 12 days of Christmas! This year was different. The kids energy was high and positive despite the challenge of getting the tree back int the box (yes, it's artificial!). They made the work fun! We cleaned up and then toasted the Three Kings arrival with some lovely champagne. I loved it.
Later I treated the kids to a delicious dinner at Outback. There was a mix up in our seating and the manager 'made it up to us' with the gift of a blooming onion appetizer...YUM! AS I snapped a picture of the kids across the table from me Salonee mused aloud, "Does this mean we will make the blog?" I think it's great that family and friends seem to enjoy the blog (such as it is) and mostly seem to like being mentioned on it.
I am anxious to begin posting some Wedding photos but have not yet gotten the 'go ahead' from Jordan.

A Time for Gratitude
The girls are enjoying some time in Idaho with Meredith's family. They sent this to me yesterday saying they saw five bald eagles on their walk! How great!!
I am trying to focus on all the positives in my life and to let go of the worries, the what ifs, the fear that frequents my mind. I know its child-like perhaps, but I've created a gratitude jar and each day will make an entry into it. My plan is to open it up next New Year's Eve to reflect on all the gifts, blessings positives and joys of 2013. My hope is that by centering on joy and goodness... more of that will come into my life or at least I will be more aware of what already is!
I want to feel the fullness, not the emptiness. I think this practice of gratitude will help guide me and ground me as I move through each day.
Happy New Year!
